Hi friends! It's been a hot minute since I last blogged. But, I decided to shake off the cob webs and get back in it. I met a group of ladies today who encouraged me to do it...we're talking about blogging gurus and if they have faith in me, well gosh darn it, I've got to tackle it! So, here we go. :0)

November is National Adoption Month...it's a month set aside to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care. Many of you may already know that Darryl "DMC" McDaniels from RUN-DMC was adopted when he was just 3-months old. But he discovered this at the age of 35 and since then he's dedicated a lot of time toward helping foster youth and finding his birth mother. What an amazing and humble individual. I first met DMC in 2008 so it was nice to see him again when he came by last week. He was in town for an event and benefit concert. His story is riveting and you must see his emmy award winning Vh1 documentary "DMC: My Adoption Journey." He screams positivity and kindness... love him.

Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" helped DMC get through some TOUGH times...it's def inspirational.

I can't wait to see this new movie "Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire!!"
Ok, I heart Oprah so I support just about anything she's associated with. Don't judge me! "Precious" is the story of a sixteen year old girl who is born into a life NO ONE would want. But her journey to a better life begins after meeting an empathetic teacher, Ms. Rain... played by Paula Patton. Learn more about the film from the director Lee Daniels and Paula Patton....awesome interview on Fox 5 Morning News!! :0)

Paula is married to singer Robin Thicke... and they are expecting their first baby. Awwww. She looks amazing.

He is a genius. Mr. Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent and yours truly...

I am obsessed with Melrose Place. My fav character? Lauren Yung!!! I love how she's super intelligent (doctor), independent, and straightforward...BUT that wild 'side job' does make me a little upset. Ok see... Lauren is in desperate need of money to pay her student loans so she becomes a call girl. There's gotta be a better way to pay for med school?? Sigh...guess that's why it's a drama. This is def my new obsession. Lauren is played by Stephanie Jacobson...and she's absolutely STUNNING. Isn't she??? I still love me some housewives, the hills, and Jon & Kate plus 8 (or Kate plus 8).

Hi friends!!

The countdown to my birthday continues... and all I want is for the Skins to beat the Eagles Monday night!!!!!!! That's right, my birthday is the 26th! :0) Guess how old I'm turning?

For some reason, I'm not really feeling my birthday this year. Not sure why. Usually, I plan something or round up the troops for a get together but I feel like laying low this year. I celebrate my life everyday!! LoLoL! I think my 18th birthday was the most exciting because I knew it meant I would officially be an adult AND I could date without my parents hovering over me like a helicopter! I didn't really look forward to turning 21 like most people because I'm not a drinker. Really...I'm not. I heard turning 30 is pretty exciting tho but...WHY?? A lot of women tell me turning 30 is life-changing. Hmmm. Ok...can't wait. Uh...yea actually I can wait.

So tomorrow I'm going to a wedding with my sister. I'm sure I'll cry... definitely once the music comes on. Like I said before, I listen and get lost in the lyrics. I love music. Don't you guys think it's sooo powerful and therapeutic? It's interesting how certain songs will trigger vivid memories. For example, "whoop there it is" (remember that one?!!) makes me think about those 6th/7th grade dances with my bff at the time!! LoLoLoL. We thought we were sooo cool with our flowerly tops and outrageous bangs!! Vanilla Ice's "ice ice baby" makes me think of the time my friends and I choreographed a dance because we wanted to enter MTV's "Lip Service"-- wowowowow. Sound the nerd alert!!

SO back to this wedding... eh-hem... the ceremony will be a tear-jerker I'm sure but the reception will be nothing but laughs and good times!! Wedding receptions mean one thing... those goofy dances to get everyone feeling funky!! My fav?? The Cupid Shuffle!!!

For those of you who live under a rock and are unaware of the cupid shuffle... watch Elmo get down:

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!!!!

Meet New Artist Carmen Reece

If you like fabulous music... download Carmen Reece's debut single "Right Here" off of iTunes asap! She's def on her way to the top! She made billboard history when "Right Here" climbed from the #12 to #3 spot in only two weeks on the top 40 dance airplay chart. She has an amazing raw talent, and is working with multi-platinum producer/songwriter Mark Feist! He's turned hits for Beyonce, Celine Dion, Kelly Rowland, Brian McKnight, etc. Wow... the version she sang for us today was dreamy. :0) I'm such a sucker when it comes to the lyrics...I get really cheesy with it. Do any of you? I'm sure most of my ladies do. Music is so powerful.

You gotta watch Carmen's performance and tell me what you think:
